Why can’t I use iBank’s new bill pay feature from my checking account?

Two things need to coincide for bill pay to work with your checking account. The first is that you have to have selected Direct Download/Bill Pay as your method for connecting when setting up the account – be sure you haven’t selected Direct Access or Web Download as a connection option.

The second is that your bank must support bill payment from customers using finance software. In some cases, your bank may not support bill pay from third party applications – even though they do offer online bill pay to customers via their own website. If so, you can use the built-in web browser in iBank to access your bank’s bill pay service without ever leaving iBank. Here’s how:

First, double-click on the name for your account and make sure that the web address for your bank’s site is entered in the pop-up window that appears. That way you will see your bank listed in iBank’s source list under “Websites.” Click on the site for your bank, log in to your account, and navigate to your bank’s bill pay screen to send payments. You are now paying bills from within iBank using your bank’s online service, and all of the transactions you create there can be downloaded to your account.
