How do I resolve the error, “iBank couldn’t retrieve the password from the Keychain,” when trying to update an account?

If the above error message appears when you try to update an account that is set up for online access, it may indicate a problem with your login keychain. To resolve this, follow these steps:

  1. In the Finder, open Macintosh HD/Applications/Utilities and launch Keychain Access.
  2. Go to the Keychain Access menu and choose Keychain First Aid.
  3. Select the option to “Repair” and click the start button.

Keychain Access will then search your keychain for errors and repair any problems that are found. Once this process is complete, restart your Mac, and from that point forward iBank should be able to update your account without further errors.
