Remove Historical Data

While we encourage people to preserve their historical financial data, as some point you have to ask yourself, "do you really need data from accounts that have been closed for 10 years?"

With our Remove Historical Data feature, you can trim down your existing document and save off your older data in a separate document.

Here is an example of how it works. Let's say you have a document with 15 years worth of accounts, transactions, investments, budgets, and so on. When you start the Remove Historical Data feature you'll be asked to enter a date from which point going forward, all your data will be preserved. And all of the data before that date will be saved off into a separate document for historical purposes – we will refer to this document as the "historical document".

In the historical document Banktivity does the following:

This allows you to safely open the historical document without worrying about it updating. You can still manually edit the data in the historical document.
