Moving Banktivity to a New Computer

The easiest and most reliable way to move Banktivity to a new computer is by using Banktivity Cloud Sync.

On the Original Computer

1. Launch Banktivity and open the ledger you want to sync.
2. Choose Ledger > Enable Cloud Sync… to start the setup assistant.
3. Enter and confirm a cloud ledger encryption password. Make note of this password—you will need it to open the ledger on your other devices.

The assistant will display a progress bar while your data uploads to the Cloud Sync server. Once the upload finishes, move to your new computer.

On the New Computer

1. Download the current version of Banktivity from the Banktivity download page.
2. Install and launch Banktivity.
3. On the welcome screen, select Already a customer? Log in.
4. Sign in with your Banktivity User Account.
5. Select your shared ledger from the list and double-click it.
6. Enter the ledger's encryption password when prompted.
7. Allow the initial sync to finish downloading your data.

Your accounts and transactions will now match across both devices. Once you have confirmed everything looks correct, you can safely remove Banktivity from your original computer.
